DBA UK are pleased to announce we’ve had another great meeting of adult DBA patients over this past weekend and we are keen to hear your thoughts about future meetings!
We opted for a London location again this time as it was felt it would be easier for more people to get to and it also meant we could expand the scope of the adult meeting to include medical speakers which we had not tried before for the adult meetings.
We were very grateful that 6 doctors, including key DBA contact Dr Josu De La Fuente, were able to donate their free time to come and give some fantastic talks, some of which were more pertinent to adult patients of DBA.
Included below are the power point presentations of most speakers which you are more than welcome to read in case you weren’t able to join us, but please bear in mind these are presented without the context of the talk in which they were delivered and as such no implicit medical information should be taken from them –
3 – Dr Rob Bell – The heart, iron levels and heart defects
The group also had free time in the evening on Saturday to head for a meal and discuss how the talks had gone as well as their own personal experiences with DBA.
Events like these are only a success if we can get as many adult DBA patients as possible to attend, whether you’ve never been before or you’ve been to previous meetings, it’s always great to see both new faces (some of whom have never even met other DBA patients before!) and more experienced patients who can share their knowledge with the group for the benefit of others.
DBA patient testimonials from the weekend –
Rebecca – “Thank you for a fabulous weekend! We learnt a lot and it was great to catch up with some old faces! Can’t wait for next year!”
Jane – “Well done to the committee for organising a fantastic adult DBA weekend. Me and Megan had a great time and learnt a lot. It was great seeing everyone again too’ Looking forward to the next one! Thanks again.”
